Is Serrenta ALL NATURAL?

Short answer: No! Serrenta is much much better than just “natural”. 

I believe greenwashing with words like natural that actually means nothing is manipulative and not honest. It didn’t start with honest intentions in the first place when it was created as a new marketing method by corporations and it continues to be dishonest.

I understand people who don’t know about formulation can be confused about the actual ingredients and how they work and may not have bad intentions. Most people actually believe they are using essential oils and that means their customers will be safer. Lots of people think if you cannot spell every word on the ingredient list, it is a bad product. At some point last year, people were believing that if water is the first ingredient in a list, that means you are just overpaying for water and that product is useless, just mostly water with tiny bit of other things. This all comes from propaganda targeted for people who don’t actually know much about skincare and hygiene products. And the reason these come up as strong beliefs and you see it everywhere on social media is always that a big corporation just came up with a new product that fits that criteria and now everything else is bad. Influencers are not your friends, they are the sales reps of these companies. If they are telling you every product with this and that in it is bad, look at what they are actually promoting first. That “water as first ingredient means you are duped” thing came up when a big company was trying to market their waterless massage bars. 🤷‍♀️

What we can do is to educate ourselves and use the products that actually help our customers, that are actually safe and not just greenwashed. For example, essential oils are the most concentrated versions of plants. So they carry whatever that plant had as a benefit or harm at the highest possible level. If that plant was grown on land with harmful metals, your essential oil will have concentrated harmful metals in it. Lots of plants are amazing for our health while lots can be harmful at high amounts. So a lot of essential oils are actually terrible to put on skin, like cinnamon. Citrus is nice but only if you stay away from sun afterwards. Lots of essential oils have hormone inhibitors. They are also diluted sometimes and we have no idea what they are diluted with. And the worst part is; they are completely unregulated. So there is no one checking if it is harmful or if it is even real apart from company itself doing voluntary testing. 

Fragrance oils can be bad, can also be harmless. Yes, they are synthetic, lab made but they are made specifically for our skin, while essential oils are not made for cosmetics, they are just made to get the highest level of everything from the plant. I absolutely understand the distrust against companies creating them as they have been the ones harming us for a long time, but there are also a bunch of companies that are owned by people who came from among us. Experienced candle makers turning fragrance makers for example. So I don’t think they are all trying to hurt us either. 

With both, it is our responsibility to check the safety documentation, check ingredients, and use within limits. And I would recommend to other business owners and makers to only use essential oils if they come with the third party safety documentation that is applied to fragrance oils and stay within the limits and stay away from the hot oils for skin contact products.

I may use the word natural here and there because a lot of our products are, but Serrenta is beyond the word natural. Serrenta is a brand made with meticulous attention to detail in every ingredient and a tremendous amount of research. My two Masters and one PhD may not be very useful in this business as they were unrelated, but they definitely taught  me how to do research and how to go in deeper than the surface level. With Serrenta, you can trust that the ingredients are picked carefully to not to harm you and for the most benefits for your skin.
